Carpet Flooring Maintenance
Maintenance and care
Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the long life and good looks of your flooring. In light domestic settings, vacuum regularly using the appropriate brushes. Use mats in entranceways to minimise dirt being tracked from outside across the floor.
Use strong plastic sheeting with taped joints to protect the flooring during any building works as damage caused by products such as paint and varnish may prove difficult to remove.
Never use self-adhesive materials (e.g. adhesive film) for this, as such materials may leave adhesive residue on the flooring, resulting in planks being marked and/or displaced when the film is removed.
To avoid damaging the floor, protect sharp edges of furniture and avoid dragging items across it.
Managing spills and stains
Although spills are inevitable, permanent stains do not have to be. Most stains can be avoided or removed by immediate, or at least same day, treatment.
Slightly soiled areas and stains can be removed in most cases using lukewarm water and an absorbent towel (white cotton towel), a leftover remnant of the laid carpeting or a microfibre cloth /microfibre gloves.
Stubborn stains where lukewarm water proves to be insufficient are to be removed using a suitable, gentle PH neutral stain remover.
Note that the stain remover should always be applied to the cleaning cloth, not directly to the carpet. Always treat a stain from the outward edges inwards by dabbing or twisting the cloth, never by rubbing over and around the stained area and beyond.
Ensure that any product being used on your floor is first tested in an inconspicuous or concealed place prior to use. We are unable to assume any warranty or liability in the event of improper handling or use.
Cleaning and planned maintenance
If deeper cleaning is required, we recommend using an experienced floorcare professional. There is a significant risk of permanently damaging flooring if cleaning is not carried out using the correct methods, equipment, chemicals and procedures.
In commercial settings, interim cleaning of carpet involves frequent lowmoisture cleaning and pile revival and the removal of oily soil and sticky residues that would otherwise hold soil in the carpet and lead to overcleaning.
Periodic deep cleaning should be performed regularly according to the level of traffic in a particular area. The most effective form of deep cleaning is Hot Water Extraction.
