Corka

Material

Our Click Planks are 122.5cm long and 19cm wide. They are sold in boxes of 8 which cover 1.862 sq m.
Our Black and White Gluedown Tiles are 30cm square and sold in boxes of 11 which cover 0.99 sq m.
Our Parquet Gluedown Tiles are 60cm x 15cm and sold in boxes of 10 which cover 0.9 sq m.

To make sure you order enough you should measure the maximum width and length of the room including any recess or doorway. We recommend you add 5% to the overall square meterage to allow for wastage. It's also always a good idea to order a spare pack or two for repairs over the lifetime of your floor. For more tips, see Getting it right

Yes. Drop us an email and we’ll let you know where.

Yes, all our Corka has got a domestic and commercial guarantee of 10 years. See Warranty.

It’s made in Portugal.

All our Corka has been tested for slip resistance and has been rated R9 which is standard for domestic and commercial interiors (excluding commercial kitchens and bathrooms).

Yes, cork is naturally hypo-allergenic and it doesn’t absorb dust so doesn’t pose a risk to asthma sufferers. It is also the recipient of numerous indoor quality ratings including Greenguard Gold. See Data sheet.

Our Corka is made from the bark of Portuguese oak trees. It’s a unique flooring material because trees are not cut down or damaged in the harvesting which is done once every nine years. No waste is created in the production process (even the cork dust is swept from the floor and burnt to produce energy to fuel the factory).

Our Corka is the recipient of a prestigious Blue Angel rating which is a German Government scheme which awards exceptionally environmentally friendly products.

It’s also carbon negative which means that the production process actually has a net effect of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to reduce global warming.

Yes, for a wooden product cork is unusually flame retardant. The bark on cork trees has evolved to protect them against forest fires. The fire rating for Corka is Cfl-S1.

Yes. Due to the unique honeycomb structure of cork, our Corka has outstanding noise insulation (18 decibel impact sound absorption for Click Planks and 13 decibels for Gluedown Tiles).

Both materials are commercial grade with tough scratch-resistant wear layers and both are made in Europe. Our wood flooring is probably slightly tougher. Both wood and Corka are produced to very high standards of environmental management, although Corka is unique in being actually carbon negative – cork oak forests capture five times more CO2 than is used in its manufacture. Both come in a range of contemporary colours - choose between the beautiful, natural grain of wood and Corka’s unique patterning.

Application

All our Corka has a European Classification of 23 (heavy domestic) and 33 (heavy commercial) use. Applications include healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, office as well as busy family homes and bathrooms. See Data sheet.

Yes, email us with all your trade queries.

Yes, it's great for kitchens as well any other room in the house, including bathrooms (though not wetrooms).

Yes. All our Corka is water-resistant and can be used in bathrooms.
Corka Click Planks should be glued down in bathrooms and shower rooms. It is pre-finished and needs no further treatment on site. See our Installation page for details.

Our Gluedown Tiles are designed to be laquered on site when used in wet areas. See our Installation page for details.

This is the only room in the house we don’t recommend you use it in. While the flooring itself is water-resistant, there’s a chance water can get underneath the floor round the edges of the room and affect the adhesive.

Yes, we’ve done lots of gyms and yoga studios.

Yes. You’ll need to buy nosings to fit where the tread and riser meet. We've found good ones at All-in-All Flooring Accessories Stairrods UK, C.A.T (via distributors nationwide), Morleys, Gradus as well as major DIY shops.

Yes, because cork is flexible it recovers its shape better than other hardwood floors after compression. But obviously very sharp objects could leave residual dents. Office chairs should have soft wheels. See Maintenance page for details

Our Corka is designed to be practical and durable but as with most floors, there is always the risk of scratching.

Sharp nails will have the same action as any other scraping object on the floor, though many customers with cats and  dogs have bought our products and it is not something that anyone has reported a problem with.

Fitting

Our Corka Click Planks can be fitted on top of most hard surfaces and uses a bespoke click system to slot into place. Some customers choose to fit it themselves as a DIY project. Our Corka is a floating floor which means it doesn’t normally need gluing down although in certain circumstances it might be the best option. See Installation.

Our Corka Gluedown Tiles can be glued directly on to most hard surfaces. See Installation.

Yes, we have a list of recommended fitters. Email us your postcode and we’ll send you details of fitters local to you.

Yes (as long as it doesn’t exceed 27C.) See Installation.

No, it doesn’t need underlay but for added noise insulation on our Click Planks it’s an option. We sell it here.

Yes, it’s easy to fit directly on any hard surface. For Click Planks just click into place, see Installation. For Gluedowns just glue into place, see Installation

Yes, depending on moisture levels you may need a damp proof membrane. For Click Planks see Installation. For Gluedowns see Installation

Yes, it’s easy to fit directly on any hard surface. For Click Planks just click into place, see Installation. For Gluedowns just glue into place, see Installation

Yes, it’s easy to fit directly on any hard surface. If there are gaps between the floorboards it would be best to put some ply down first. For Click Planks see Installation. For Gluedowns see Installation

For most rooms, you can install Corka Click Planks as a floating floor. There are, however, certain applications for which we recommend you glue your Corka Click Planks, these include: bathrooms, areas with a lot of direct sunlight where the temperature may exceed 44C, rooms with underfloor heating, in fitness studios and where heavy objects are placed on the floor (eg kitchen cabinets, pianos). See Installation for more details.

For Corka Click Planks we recommend this one.

For Corka Gluedown Tiles we recommend this one

No. We've found good ones at All-in-All Flooring Accessories, Stairrods UK, Morleys, Gradus as well as major DIY shops.

Care

It needs no special maintenance. Simply sweep or Hoover regularly and wash using a damp cloth or well-wrung mop. We recommend this cleaner.

No, intense temperatures can damage the floor.

Our Corka Click Planks come with a water-based PU coating with UV finish applied in the factory. This means once installed it doesn’t need waxing or other dressings.
Our Corka Gluedown Tiles are designed to be laquered on site when used in wet areas. See our Installation page for details.

All wood and cork is affected by UV light, a process known as oxidation. Cork left exposed to direct, unfiltered UV rays will noticeably change in colour in the first 1-3 months. .
It is important to move area rugs and furnishings to allow for even colour change. Use blinds, curtains or other sun screening systems to minimize exposure to UV light. UV-protected windows are also recommended..

For surface damage you could try colour matched wood filler widely available online and in major DIY shops.

With our floating Corka Click Planks it's also possible to remove individual planks if you’ve damaged them and replace them. See Installation

Vinyl

Material

It comes in rolls 2m wide and 25m long. It’s 3.2mm thick with a 0.7mm wear layer. We can cut to whatever length you need (minimum order 1m2).

Yes. It just means you’ll have a seam (most of the jobs we do have one). Laid well, seams are like a fine pencil line, pretty much invisible.

To make sure you order enough flooring, you should measure the maximum width and length of the room including any recess or doorway. We recommend you add 16cm on to each dimension to allow for wastage. For more tips, see Getting it right

Yes. Drop us an email and we’ll let you know where.

Yes, it’s guaranteed for 10 years. See Warranty.

It’s made in Europe.

We have a recolouring service which can turn our vinyl and rubber into any RAL colour of your choosing. Email us for details.

It has been tested for slip resistance and has been rated R10 which is standard for domestic and commercial interiors (excluding commercial kitchens and bathrooms). See Data sheet.

Yes. There is an anti-microbial additive in the surface layer which protects against bacteria, mould, fungi, yeast and algae. See Data sheet.

It’s made using pioneering phthalate-free technology and is especially low in volatile organic compounds (VOC).

It has received many awards for indoor air quality including a prestigious A Plus Clean Air certificate. It’s also 100% recyclable and uses 15-33% recycled material. It is solvent-free and compliant with REACH legislation.

Our manufacturers carefully check the life cycle through every stage of production, from raw material to finished rolls in order to ensure the highest possible eco standards.

It meets the European environmental benchmark ISO14001. See Data sheet.

Yes. See Data sheet.

Yes, it’s been specifically designed for excellent sound insulation. It’s got an extra thick cushioned backing (2.5mm) which gives it exceptional acoustic properties (19 decibels sound absorption). See Data sheet.

Both materials are commercial grade with tough scratch-resistant wear layers and both are made in Europe.

Our vinyl is produced to very high environmental standards (it’s phthalate-free and fully recyclable), but if sustainability is a priority, our rubber is the one to choose. It’s the recipient of some of Europe’s most prestigious eco awards (Blue Angel, BRE).

Both are guaranteed for 10 years, though rubber may be marginally more prone to surface scratching. In sustained, strong direct sunlight (eg. a south facing conservatory) we would suggest vinyl as the protective surface layer (PU layer) on rubber may eventually need re-coating as part of its maintenance programme.

Ultimately it may come down to price. If you are looking for the most affordable option, vinyl is the winner.

Application

Our vinyl has an especially thick 0.7mm wear layer which means it’s suitable for heavy commercial and general industrial use or anywhere where acoustical material is required. Applications include healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, office as well as busy family homes. It has a European Classification of 32 (heavy commercial) and 42 (general industrial) use. See Data Sheet.

Yes, drop us an email about all your trade queries.

Yes, as well any other room in the house (aside from a wet room). See Installation.

Yes, it’s fully waterproof and can be used in bathrooms. See Installation.

This is the only room in the house we don’t recommend you use it in. While the flooring itself is waterproof, there’s a chance water can get underneath the floor round the edges of the room and affect the adhesive.

Yes, we’ve done lots of gyms.

Yes. You’ll need to buy nosings to fit where the tread and riser meet. We've found good ones at Stairrods UK, C.A.T (via distributors nationwide), Morleys, Gradus as well as major DIY shops.

Yes. Temporary indention is normal with acoustic vinyl which is why it’s nice and soft underfoot but any dents will pop out usually in a matter of seconds. Indentation caused by heavier objects may take a little longer. The molecular structure of vinyl means it behaves like an extremely slow moving liquid so it will always want to flatten out. The only kind of pressure to avoid is lateral (sideways) eg. from dragging heavy objects.

Yes, we've done many homes with pets.

Fitting

It’s usually glued down, but in small areas you may be able to loose lay it (see FAQ below). The most important thing to remember is you’ll need a flat smooth subfloor before laying. See Installation.

Yes, we have a list of recommended fitters. Email us your postcode and we’ll send you details of fitters local to you.

Yes (as long as it doesn’t exceed 27C.) See Installation.

 No.

Yes, provided the surface is smooth and flat. See Installation.

Yes, depending on moisture levels you may need a damp proof membrane. See Installation.

Yes. You’ll need to smooth the surface before laying. See Installation

Yes, you’ll need to put some ply down first. See Installation.

Usually yes, but for some small spaces you can loose lay it and just use a contact spray adhesive around the perimeter. If you are gluing it down we recommend you buy one of these adhesives (it comes in 2.5 litres or 5 litres) as it has been fully tested. See Installation.

We recommend this one. It’s a specially formulated solvent-free acrylic emulsion and has been fully tested with our vinyl.

No. We recommend the double cut method which, if done properly, will give you a tight and barely visible seam. See Installation

In commercial settings where hygiene is a priority (medical clinics etc) hot welding may be the best option. Email us for colour matched welds.

No. We've found good ones at stairrods.co.uk, CAT (Carpet Accessory Trims), Morleys, Gradus as well as major DIY shops.

Care

It needs no special maintenance. Just a bucket, a mop and some PH neutral cleanser. We recommend this one.

No, intense temperatures can damage the floor.

No, our vinyl comes with a top protective coating applied in the factory and requires no special maintenance.

Our vinyl has been thoroughly tested for colour fastness and complies with European standards, however, almost every kind of material is affected by direct sunlight and can be prone to some colour fading. We recommend using blinds or curtains to protect against this. Of all our floors, our vinyl is probably the most resilient in these conditions.

A Floor Care Kit is like a makeover for your floor. It will give it a deep clean which may reduce the appearance of scratches and it builds up an additional layer of protective coating. This is only something you’d only do once every few years. For surface scratching you could try a vinyl scratch repair kit, widely available online. For complete removal and reapplication of the top layer email us about our recolouring service.

Wood

Material

Our engineered oak planks are 19cm wide and 1.5 cm thick. They come in a mixture of lengths, from 60cm to 210cm. The pack size is 2.26 sq m. A standard box will contain 6 rows of planks, of which 3-4 rows will be full-length planks and 2-3 will be shorter ones.
Our parquet planks are 41.2cm long, 8.2cm wide and 1.5cm thick. Pack size is 1.908 sq m.

To make sure you order enough flooring, you should measure the maximum width and length of the room including any recess or doorway. We recommend you add 5% to allow for wastage. It's also always a good idea to order a spare pack or two for repairs over the lifetime of your floor. For more tips, see Getting it right

Yes. Drop us an email and we’ll let you know.

Yes, it’s guaranteed for 25 years. See Warranty.

It’s made in Europe using timber from forestries committed to environmentally and socially responsible logging.

It has been tested for slip resistance and has been rated 50 SRV which is standard for domestic and commercial interiors (excluding commercial kitchens and bathrooms). See Data Sheet.

Wood flooring is ideal for asthma sufferers because its surface does not trap dust mites or pet dander. Our flooring is especially suitable as it contains no added formaldehyde.

All our wood flooring comes from a Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) certified manufacturer and is made from timber harvested using clean felling practices which don’t lead to any reduction in oak forests. Sustainability is the watchword at every stage of manufacturing: 100 percent of wood waste is recycled and there are no harmful emissions created during the process.

Both materials are commercial grade with tough scratch-resistant wear layers and both are made in Europe. Our wood flooring is probably slightly tougher and comes in a choice of sizes – parquet or plank. Both wood and Corka are produced to very high standards of environmental management, although Corka is unique in being actually carbon negative – cork oak forests capture five times more CO2 than is used in its manufacture. Both come in a range of contemporary colours… choose between the beautiful, natural grain of wood and Corka’s unique patterning.

Application

Our wood flooring comes with a 25-year structural Warranty for domestic use and 5 years for commercial applications, so it’s suitable for use anywhere from offices and retail to busy family homes.

Yes, email us with all your trade queries.

Yes, it's great for kitchens. See our Maintenance and care page for details.

We don't recommend wood for bathrooms as excessive moisture can cause issues with dimensional stability.

Yes, we’ve done lots of gyms and yoga studios.

Yes. We sell colour-matched stair nosings for all our wood flooring. You'll find them in the 'You may also need' section on all our wood product pages.

Of course. UV Oil is the best finish for a pet-friendly home, as additional oil renewer can be easily applied to local areas of your floor if and when it is needed. It's also a good idea to keep your dog's claws trimmed!

Fitting

Our wood can be fitted on top of most hard surfaces and uses a traditional tongue and groove system to slot into place. Some customers choose to fit it themselves as a DIY project. You can choose whether you glue it down or not. See Installation.

Yes, we have a list of recommended fitters. Email us your postcode and we’ll send you details of fitters local to you.

Yes (as long as it doesn’t exceed 27C.) See Installation.

An underlay is necessary if you are installing our wood as a floating floor rather than a gluedown. Different underlays have different acoustic properties and capacity to isolate moisture in the subfloor. You need to ensure that your underlay is suitable for your project. Underlay should be laid at right angles to the direction of the floorboards and should not be overlapped. Joints need to be sealed with a suitable vapour tape.

Yes, as long as there is no possibility of them loosening or moving. See Installation.

Yes, depending on moisture levels you may need a damp proof membrane. See Installation.

Yes. Chipboard can be used if extra care is taken in smoothing the surface before laying.
See Installation.

Yes, you will need to put a ply sub floor on top first. See Installation.

It’s up to you whether you glue it down or install as a "floating" floor. See Installation for details.

You can buy the recommended glue in the 'You may also need' section on all our wood product pages.

Yes, we have a selection of colour-matched profiles, including stair nosings, T-bars and reducers. You'll find them in the 'You may also need' section on all our wood product pages.

Care

Simply sweep or Hoover regularly and wash using a damp cloth or well-wrung mop and our recommended cleaner.

No, intense temperatures can damage the floor.

Your wooden flooring comes with a protective UV oil top layer. Unlike lacquered floors, the advantage of this is that additional oil renewer can be easily applied to local areas of your floor if and when it is needed, perhaps every two or three years in a normal domestic setting. See Maintenance page for details

All wood is affected by UV light, a process known as oxidation. Wood left exposed to direct, unfiltered UV rays will noticeably change in colour in the first 1-3 months. Depending on the colour, the change in appearance may result in it darkening, lightening or yellowing.
It is important to move area rugs and furnishings to allow for even colour change. Use blinds, curtains or other sun screening systems to minimize exposure to UV light. UV-protected windows are also recommended.

For surface damage you could try our colour matched wax filler specially made to complement our wood range. They are eco-safe and waterproof too. You can buy them in the 'You may also need' section on all our wood product pages.

It’s also possible to remove individual planks if you’ve damaged them and replace them. See Installation

Rubber

Material

It comes in rolls 1.9m wide and 10m long. It’s 3mm thick. We can cut to whatever length you need (minimum order 1m2).

To make sure you order enough flooring, you should measure the maximum width and length of the room including any recess or doorway. We recommend you add 16cm on to each dimension to allow for wastage. For more tips, see Getting it right

Yes, it’s guaranteed for 10 years. See Warranty.

It’s made in Europe.

Our rubber has been tested for slip resistance and complies with British standards. We have an R9 rating which is standard for domestic and commercial interiors (excluding commercial kitchens and bathrooms). See Data sheet.

The surface of the rubber is non-porous which means it doesn’t offer space for bacteria to multiply. See Data sheet.

It’s got brilliant eco credentials. It’s the recipient of a prestigious Blue Angel rating which is a German Government scheme which awards exceptionally environmentally friendly products. It’s also been awarded an A Plus Clean Air certificate in France, a Good Environmental Choice label in Australia and a Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort GOLD award, among many others.

Use of our rubber can significantly contribute to LEED credits, BREEAM certification, and other measures of environmental sustainability.

Our rubber meets the European environmental benchmark ISO14001. See Data sheet

Rugs

Material

Our rugs are 80% New Zealand wool and 20% cotton. The warp is cotton, the weft is wool.

Our rugs are 2200 gsm.

Our rugs are approximately 8mm thick.

We use water-soluble, azo-free anionic dyes.

The rugs are hand-made in Utter Pradesh, India, by artisans on hand-looms in a process that takes five days from start to finish. We carefully sourced a family-run business which is GoodWeave certified.

GoodWeave is a non-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring no child or forced labour is used in the making of its registered productions. The GoodWeave label is the best assurance that no child labour was employed in the making of that rug and a percentage of the cost of labelled rugs goes to support grassroots social programmes in India and Nepal. In order to be certified by GoodWeave weavers sign a legally binding contract to conform to internationally recognised work standards and to allow unannounced inspections of their workshops by GoodWeave agents. Goodweave certification also guarantees strict standards of labour, wages and business ethics and sustainability.

No, our rugs are for indoor use only.

We recommend you buy an approriately piece of our non-slip underlay to keep your rug firmly in place.

Our underlay is made up of sustainable recycled wool felt and recycled polyester. It is 250gsm.

Care

Vacuum your rug regularly using the setting without bristles. If something gets spilt on it, spot clean it with wool-friendly carpet cleaner. Always blot the stain, never rub. Ensure the rug is completely dry before re-positioning on the floor.

If a thread comes loose just snip it off close to the rug’s surface with sharp scissors. If you find any of the stitching round the edges comes loose, simply glue it back into place using a bit of PVA glue.

Try to keep your rug out of really sunny spots to avoid colour fade.

Samples

We will send up to three samples free of charge. Alternatively, you can pick six colours for £3.99 or a sample pack of all colours from £4.99. We also sell larger samples for £4.99 each. See Samples.

You can collect them on the day, by appointment, from our premises at 54 Kynaston Road, London N16 0EU. If you want to do this please just drop us an email.

Yes please do, it saves waste. Just post them back to us at 54 Kynaston Road, London N16 0EU

Fitting my flooring

You can use either. For sheet vinyl and rubber, we just suggest that you get someone who is confident with laying a plain coloured flooring. It will only look good if the sub floor is beautifully flat and smooth and the joins are done professionally. We have a list of fitters who have worked with our customers. Just email us with your postcode and we can recommend a local one.

Yes, we have a list of fitters who have worked with our customers. Just email us with your postcode and we can recommend a local one. We try to monitor our recommended fitters as carefully as possible to ensure we only pass on phone numbers for tradesmen who work to the highest standards. However any agreement you enter into is between you and them. They are independent tradesmen and as such we cannot take any responsibility for their work or any arrangement which you make with them.

We recommend that you buy our glue as it has been tested and is fully compatible with our flooring. You can find the relevant glue for your flooring in the You May Also Need section of our site.

Shipping, delivery and returns

Our standard delivery takes up to five working days from receipt of your order within mainland UK. We also have an Express delivery (2 working days) and Speedy delivery (3 working days). There is also an option to pick up from our warehouse which, if you are in a real hurry, you can do on the day of your order. See Delivery and Returns. Overseas orders take a little longer.

Our standard delivery rates (within 5 working days) start from £25 for smaller orders. For the full range of rates and times see Delivery & Returns.

You can collect from our warehouse in Enfield, Monday-Friday, 8.45am-3.30pm. This option is free, just select pick up at check out.

Speedy, our couriers, are on 0208 813 4111.

You can email us with your order number and tell us when you want it and we will do our best to accommodate. Or you can call Speedy on 020 8813 4111 and make a request to them direct. Depending on location and timing they can be quite flexible.

We deliver weekdays and, by arrangement, on Saturdays. See Delivery and Returns.

If you have arranged a specific time for a delivery and you miss it, you will be liable for a delivery recharge. Please ring Speedy on 020 8813 4111 to make an alternative arrangement.

Transit damage can occasionally happen. If there is any sign of damage to your flooring when it arrives (contents rather than packaging) then it's best to refuse delivery and we will resend.

It’s important you leave plenty of time for your flooring to arrive safely before your fitter is booked. We strive to deliver everything on time, but unexpected delivery delays and mix-ups do occur. Also flooring needs time to acclimatise before it’s fitted so building in time between delivery and fitting is important. Please note we are not liable for any costs incurred if you have booked a fitter and there is an issue with receipt of your flooring.

You can swap your order within 14 days of receipt of your flooring. Cut lengths may be liable to a restocking fee. See Delivery and Returns.

Unfortunately we've had to suspend our exports. If you have enquiries about ordering from abroad email us your requirements and we can advise on options.

Sustainability

All our wood flooring comes from a Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) certified manufacturer and is made from timber harvested using clean felling practices which don’t lead to any reduction in oak forests. Sustainability is the watchword at every stage of manufacturing: 100 percent of wood waste is recycled and there are no harmful emissions created during the process.

Our Corka is made from the bark from Portuguese oak trees which is harvested once every nine years. Cork is the only raw material used in flooring which doesn’t damage or cut the trees in the process. No waste is created in the production process (even the cork dust is swept from the floor and burnt to produce energy to fuel the factory).

Our Corka is the recipient of a Blue Angel award, a certification which follows rigorous environmental standards and is renowned as a reference guide for a more sustainable way of living. Our Corka is also carbon negative which means that the product process actually has a net effect of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to reduce global warming.

Corka also has the best indoor air quality ratings in the industry including Tüv Premium and Greenguard Gold.

Our Rubber is the recipient of a Blue Angel award.

Our vinyl also have low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Our vinyl is 100% recyclable.

The Colour Flooring Company is also committed to environmental sustainability in every aspect of the day-to-day running of our business as well as wider operational and manufacturing activities. These include company wide programmes to reduce waste through strategic purchasing, recycling and carbon offsetting with the aim of significantly reducing our carbon footprint year on year. All Colour Flooring Company floors are 100% recyclable and manufactured using processes which minimize the environmental impact. Our flooring is durable and long lasting, helping to reduce the overall lifetime environmental impact from manufacture, distribution, installation and maintenance. The Colour Flooring Company supports the industry-wide movement to recycle post-consumer waste. Industry initiatives such as Recofloor and wider initiatives such as Recovinyl demonstrate the commitment to developing practical measures to support long-term environmental sustainability.
