All our manufacturer’s products carry the Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) certificate which means they originate from forestries committed to environmentally and socially responsible logging.
All our timber is harvested using clean felling practices which don’t lead to any reduction in oak forests and our manufacturers work closely with local groups to ensure sustainability at every stage of the process.
100 percent of the wood waste generated in the manufacturing is recycled, sawdust and wood chips are either burned for heating kiln dryers or pressed into briquettes for home heating.
We’re also careful to ensure there are no harmful emissions created in the manufacturing process. Our thorough testing shows that emissions of volatile substances from our engineered flooring similar are to those of natural wood.
HOW IT'S MADE
This three-layer flooring is made from top layer of solid oak and middle and base layers of birch for outstanding stability, enhanced with cork compensators, which are added every 15cm to prevent any movement.
Plank sizes in a pack vary between 60cm and 210cm to allow for variety in the layout.
Our oak is sawn from carefully dried single logs for outstanding finish and durability - unlike cheaper engineered flooring which is boiled, peeled and then pressed flat, making it prone to cracks and distortion.
FINISH Finished in 4 layers of deep penetrating, water-repellant UV oil designed for a warm, smooth feel, this wood flooring has a modern, matt finish that makes small scratches and dents less visible. Unlike lacquered floors, the advantage of this is that additional oil renewer can be easily applied to local areas of your floor if and when it is needed.
GRADE Our plank flooring is character grade, which means there’s a natural variation in the finish. We prefer this authentic texture to more uniform (and expensive) alternative grades which can sometimes look a bit fake. These boards may contain colour variation, burls, dark streaks open or filled knots and worm holes.
Our engineered wooden flooring is simple to lay and uses a traditional tongue and groove installation system. All you need is a clean, level surface. You can either glue it to the subfloor or leave it ‘floating’ so it’s just held in position by the weight of the floor itself.
This flooring works well with underfloor heating and if you are looking for an experienced fitter, we can help – just email us your postcode.
With its high-resistance, antibacterial protective surface treatment, our wooden flooring is easy to clean and maintain. Just a quick Hoover and mop with our detergent is all it needs for day to day cleaning.
If cared for correctly your flooring will never need to be fully sanded and refinished, it will just need reoiling every few years, depending on the level of traffic. This simple DIY process involves applying the renewer oil directly over the old finish.
And if you ever get a scratch, we have colour matched wax fillers available to restore your floor’s original finish.
Our standard delivery is within 5 working days and costs £25 for smaller orders and £35 for large ones. We also offer a 48-hour express service as well as international delivery. Samples are sent out by first-class post (you can have 3 for free).
